Glennies Creek Waste Coal Mine Gas Power Station

Capacity: 10 MW
Fuel Source: Waste Coal Mine Gas (Methane)
Prime Generators: GE Jenbacher 320 Gas Engines

Glennies Creek Power Station is a 10 MW capacity power station located at Glennies Creek Colliery, located near Singleton, NSW. Glennies Creek Colliery is one of the newer underground coal mines in the Hunter Valley. The station was commissioned in November 2007.

Similar in design to Oaky Creek Power Station, the gas at Glennies Creek is drawn from surface well heads draining the gas from an advancing underground longwall operation and is transported by polyethylene pipe to the power station. The power station incorporates the gas extraction pumps and filter systems. Unlike the other waste coal mine gas power stations, Glennies Creek is located in a declared mine subsidence area and the station has been specifically designed with components that allow for potential differential ground. The station has also been designed to allow for future expansions, should gas supply warrant.

The project was initially supported by grants from the Australian Greenhouse Office.
