The Envirogen Group

Envirogen is an Australian company established in 1999 to develop and operate
waste coal mine methane power stations. The power stations utilise the waste coal mine methane and provide environmentally responsible alternatives to fossil fuel fired power stations.

The Envirogen Group team has developed a significant management capability and expertise to cover all development phases from inception through to commissioning and operational management. This development process includes expertise to negotiate commercially attractive and mutually beneficial power off take arrangements with energy retailers, the development of low cost innovative plant design and the utilisation of efficient construction methods to ensure that projects are delivered on time and budget. The Group also manages and operates the power stations with cost effective operation and maintenance alliances.

The Envirogen Group has a commitment to working in partnership with land owners, miners, government bodies and energy retailers and has developed a sound understanding of the intricacies of these relationships and the issues that face co-operative project planning. To this end, Envirogen has further developed expertise in managing and facilitating relationships that benefit all parties.

Envirogen owns and operates four waste coal mine gas power stations located at Tahmoor Colliery, Teralba Colliery, and Glennies Creek Coal Mine  in NSW and at Oaky Creek Coal Mine in Queensland. The electricity generation from each of these stations is sold to electricity retailer Country Energy under long term power off take agreements and is supplied directly into the distribution networks in the region of each power station.
